HGS as a golf society has been going now for 30 years - with 2026 seeing some exciting celebrations of the anniversary.

This website has also been going for over 20 years now, started as a hobby by Peter Bollands, but it has developed into a critical part of the communications for the society. As well as providing key information on events and results to its members, it has also enabled several of our newer members to make initial contact with the society via the Internet.

However, the technology underpinning the website is getting old, and the use and maintenance of the website is a specialist activity - and has a limited future. So, plans are in place to review the way forward and to re-launch the website in the next 12 months using a more up-to-date and easier-to-use technology to provide some future-proofing to support the next 30 years of HGS. Now, there's a challenge!

Meanwhile, the HGS website is kept as up-to-date as is possible with forthcoming events, results and latest members' contact details and handicaps. The latest handicap indexes are obtained manually from the MyEG app (I usually update them every week or every other week in time for the next HGS event), but please communicate any other changes (eg contact detail changes) to me as soon as possible so they can be updated too.

If you spot any errors in other details on the website, please let me know and I will correct them.
