HGS Scotland Trip (14th-17th June 2019)
Specific Competition
Rules
New or revised rules for 2019 are highlighted:
Daily Stableford competitions
- played off full handicap
- players start round 1 off their current Club Handicap
- at the end of each round handicaps are adjusted for the next round by:
- -3 for the winner of the day's competition
- -2 for the 2nd placed player
- -1 for the 3rd placed player
- +1 for the 22nd placed player
- +2 for the 23rd placed player
- +3 for the 24th placed player
- PLEASE PUTT OUT ON EACH HOLE, unless you cannot score
- the usual Countback rules will apply in the event of a tie
- INDIVIDUAL CARDS SHOULD BE KEPT FOR EACH PLAYER AND SIGNED (optionally
allowing them to be submitted for handicap purposes at their Home Club)
- Please also keep an individual record of birdies
and lost balls on your card.
Trip Individual competition
- the total of the best three Stableford scores out of the four rounds
count as the player's Trip score
- in the event of a tie, the Round 4 Stableford score will be used to
differentiate; then Round 3 etc
Virtual Knockout
- a draw will be made BEFORE EACH ROUND to identify the virtual pairings,
with 3 players contesting the virtual final
- the winner will be the highest Stableford score of the two (or three),
using usual Countback rules in the event of a tie
Trip Team competition
- the four Captains will submit their secret team
starting orders for Round 1 at the beginning of June
- the new Order of Play method will then use these
secret team orders to generate an Order of Play for each of the four rounds
which will ensure that no two players play each other more than once
- each player will therefore be scheduled to play
with 12 different players over the four rounds
- CAVEAT: if captains subsequently agree a change to
the generated Order of Play for a particular round to address buggy-sharing
needs this is likely to cause some players to play together more than once
- each fourball will contain one player per team
- Stableford scores & Countback will be used to rank players in each
fourball group; the winner scores 4 points for their team, 2nd place scores
3 points, 3rd place scores 2 points & 4th place scores 1 point
- should a player not start a round they will score 0 points for their
team
- the Trip Team score will be the total points scored by the team over all
4 rounds; in the event of a tie the total Stableford points scored for all 4
rounds by all members of the tied teams will be compared
Sweepstake Competitions
- Daily Stableford Winner: predict the winner of each daily Stableford; the winners share the total prize
- Trip Individual Winner: predict the winner of the overall individual trip competition; the winners share the total prize
- Birdies: guess the total number of birdies over 4 rounds in a range spanning 2 (eg 30-31); the winners share the total prize
- Lost Balls: guess the total number of lost balls over 4 rounds in a range
spanning 5 (eg 98-102); the winners share the total prize
- a ball is 'lost' if it goes out of bounds (even if retrieved) or is
physically lost
within the course
- only 'live' balls can be lost; eg a missing provisional is not counted if
the first ball is subsequently found
